Combining Sustainability, Breathability and Moisture Management, Primaloft® is Improving the Performance of its Active Insulation Range
Outdoor and lifestyle apparel brands are turning to PrimaLoft Active Evolve, an innovative thermal fabric that performs with you in a variety of activities, regardless of intensity or season.
Originally launched in 2018, PrimaLoft Active Evolve is a collection of insulation fabrics designed to advance performance, design, and sustainability. This technology combines lightweight warmth with the breathability of the fabric for a variety of activities, regardless of intensity or season. From crossing a challenging off-piste ski trip, to a sweaty hike, to the next peak, PrimaLoft Active Evolve will keep you in your comfort zone, even when you're pushing yourself out of it.
Known for its superior breathability, moisture management and stretch capabilities, PrimaLoft Active Evolve has gained widespread attention and adoption in the outdoor and lifestyle apparel industries. In response to this growing momentum, PrimaLoft has added four new Active Evolve styles to expand its product offering, reaffirming its commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions to meet consumers' evolving needs.
Several products in the Active Evolve range can be used as a base layer. This allows the brand to forgo lining fabrics, meaning heat and moisture are managed more effectively, breathability is supported and the user's comfort is maintained. As well as enabling optimal performance in aerobic activities, this also results in wider versatility and year-round use, while using less overall material, reducing footprint and waste.
PrimaLoft Active Evolve offers multiple advantages to designers. It enables them to utilize a full spectrum of colors, incorporate unique patterns, and provides greater flexibility in fabric selection. Additionally, Active Evolve eliminates the need for quilting from the design process. Products in the Active Evolve collection are made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials, including three of the four new styles.
“This collection is designed to evolve with you,” said Tara Maurer-Mackay, PrimaLoft’s senior vice president of product strategy. “The breathability of PrimaLoft Active Evolve provides a temperature regulation system that maintains comfort and enhances performance in any activity year-round.”
Last winter, Sitka unveiled the Active Evolve in their Environmental Collection of technical hunting apparel. In developing three environmental jacket styles for hunters (both men and women), Sitka designers were challenged to find a thermal material that was durable, packable, and most importantly, adaptable to changing weather conditions and activity levels.
“SITKA’s Ambient Collection featuring PrimaLoft Active Evolve is a product that performs exceptionally well across a variety of pursuits,” said John Barklow, SITKA’s Senior Product Line Manager. “These garments are highly breathable during aerobic activities and provide critical warmth once you slow down. The insulated jackets and hoodies move with you, providing comfort across a wide range of temperature and activity levels.”
Endurance sports specialist LÖ FFLER will incorporate PrimaLoft Active Evolve into its cross-country ski collection this winter. The Austrian brand is renowned for its high-quality apparel that combines responsibility, quality and innovation. As the official apparel partner of the Austrian Nordic Ski Team, their apparel needs to function at the highest level.
“PrimaLoft Active is particularly well suited for advanced sportswear where versatile insulation is required,” says Stefan Gögele, Head of Product Management at LÖFFLER. “The material achieves an excellent combination of breathability, moisture transport and thermal performance. At the same time, it is incredibly compressible and also sustainable thanks to recycled content. This makes it an ideal partner for our jackets for cross-country skiing, cycling and ski touring.”
So far, more than a dozen brands have adopted PrimaLoft Active Evolve, and its adaptability to the user, range of use in various activities, and seasonal timing are rapidly making it one of the most versatile products in the PrimaLoft portfolio. In addition to Sitka and Löffler, key partner brands for Fall/Winter 2023-2024 include CP Company, Eddie Bauer, Endura, Martini Sportswear, OMM, Quiksilver, Ziener, and more.
