Where Does the “Memory” of Memory Fabric Come From?

Memory fabric is a functional fabric with special properties. The "memory" of memory fabric is not conscious and autonomous like human memory. Instead , it can return to its original shape under certain conditions after being deformed by external forces.

The "memory" property comes from its special fiber composition and molecular structure.

It is generally made of special fibers such as shape memory alloy fibers and shape memory polymer fibers. Taking shape memory alloy fibers as an example, its main component is nickel-titanium alloy. This alloy has a unique crystal structure, which will undergo a crystal structure transformation at different temperatures, thus showing a shape memory effect. The molecular chains inside the shape memory polymer fiber have a certain regularity and elasticity. When the fabric is stretched or deformed by external force, the molecular chains will be disrupted and temporarily fixed in a new position.

However, when external conditions (such as temperature, humidity, etc.) change, the molecular chains will obtain enough energy to overcome internal resistance and return to the original ordered state, restoring the fabric to its initial shape.
