The Advantages and Benefits of Nylon Fabric

What’s nylon fabric:

Nylon’s English name is Polyamide (PA), with a density of 1.15g/cm3. It is a general term for thermoplastic resins containing repeated amide groups [NHCO] on the molecular skeleton, including aliphatic PA, aliphatic aromatic PA and aromatic PA. Nylon fabrics are divided into pure nylon, nylon blended and rubberized fabrics.

Fabrics made of pure nylon include nylon taffeta, nylon crepe, nylon and the like.

Nylon blended fabric is a fabric obtained by mixing nylon fiber with other fabric fibers, including nylon plain weave, nylon and blended fabrics.

There are many varieties of nylon, but the main varieties are nylon 6 and nylon 66.

Due to its high physical practicality, nylon is not only used for fabrics, but also for other industries. The short fibers of nylon fabrics can be blended with other industrial fibers to make ropes and fishing nets, the cords of various tires on cars, some parasols and parachutes, etc. At the same time, the use of nylon is becoming more and more extensive. In the subsequent development, the scope of nylon is also becoming more and more extensive.

Features of Nylon fabric

1. Abrasion resistance ranks first among various fabrics, many times higher than other fiber fabrics of the same type, so its durability is very good.

2. It has good moisture absorption among synthetic fabrics, so clothes made of nylon are more comfortable than polyester clothes.

3. It is a lightweight fabric, second only to polypropylene and acrylic fabrics among synthetic fiber fabrics. Therefore, it is suitable for making mountaineering outdoorwear and winter clothing.

4. Excellent elasticity and elastic recovery, but easy to deform under very small external force, so the fabric is easy to wrinkle during wearing.

5. Both heat resistance and light resistance are poor. Pay attention to the washing and maintenance conditions during wearing and use to avoid damaging the fabric.

Advantages of Nylon Fabric:

The biggest advantage of nylon fabric is that it is strong and wear-resistant. Its wear resistance ranks first among all fabrics and is many times higher than other fiber fabrics of the same type. It is an ideal material for manufacturing wear-resistant products.

Nylon fabric has a small density and light fabric. It is listed only among synthetic fiber fabrics, second only to polypropylene and acrylic fabrics, and is lighter than cotton and viscose. Therefore, it is suitable for making mountaineering clothes and winter clothing.

Nylon fabric has excellent elasticity and elastic recovery, and its solidification and shape retention rate are second only to polyester.

It has better chromaticity, good alkali resistance and anti-reducing agent resistance, and is not afraid of mildew and insects.

5. Low temperature resistance. Nylon filament has good low temperature resistance. When the temperature is below -70 degrees Celsius, its resilience does not change much.

Disadvantages of Nylon Fabric:

1. Poor heat resistance. It turns yellow after 5 hours at 150°C, and its strength and elongation are significantly reduced, while its shrinkage rate increases. When wearing and using nylon fabrics, attention must be paid to the washing and maintenance conditions to avoid damaging the fabric.

2. Poor light resistance. The biggest disadvantage of nylon fabric is its poor sunlight resistance. After long-term exposure, the fabric will turn yellow and the strength will decrease. It is not suitable for outdoor fabrics with poor moisture absorption.

3. Low moisture absorption capacity and poor comfort, but better than acrylic and polyester;

4. Poor acid resistance and poor oxidation resistance.

5.Static electricity. Its DC conductivity is very low, and it is easy to generate static electricity due to friction during processing, and it is easy to cause fuzzing and pilling when clothes are worn for a long time.

6.Easy to deform. Nylon has a small initial modulus and is easy to deform under external force, so its fabric is easy to wrinkle during wearing, and the fabric is not hard.
